Let us calculate the stamp duty on a property transaction with an example.
If a person has purchased a property worth Rs 50 lakh, the applicable stamp duty break up will be:
Stamp duty @ 5%= 2.50 lakh
Local Body Tax (LBT) @ 1%= Rs 50,000
Metro Cess (announced in April 2022) @ 1%= Rs 50,000
Registration Charges @ 1% or 30,000 (whichever is less) = Rs 30,000
Total Stamp duty and registration charges payable in Pune are – Rs 3.80 lakh
